Meet the newest prototypes born in Desall

Meet the latest prototypes born in Desall – Remember Bormioli Pharma’s tablet and eye drop dispenser competitions? A few weeks ago, the prototypes of the winning projects were presented at the biggest pharmaceutical event of the year! Here they are:

💊 MEDICLICKER – an IoT-controlled device for easy dosage of tablets, created from a product concept by Makers Department – VIDEO

👁️ OPENEYE – an applicator for eye drops based on a product concept by Spanish engineer Carlos Martín Lopez, founder of Eingal.

Desall has accompanied Bormioli Pharma in the development of two patient-oriented solutions for simpler and more efficient healthcare – from the creative elaboration of the competition brief to the collection of suggestions from the community and the final prototyping phase.

💊 MediClicker is a smart pill-dispensing system with IoT functionalities. The medical device uses a display and a dedicated app to communicate important information to the user, avoiding the risks of voluntary and involuntary medication errors. The user is informed about the number of pills in the dispenser at any given time and is told on their smartphone the exact number of pills to be administered.

Digital healthcare and the use of connected devices are among the growing trends in the pharmaceutical industry. MediClicker can improve patients’ adherence to treatment by providing information via the Internet of Things, thus avoiding the risk of medication administration errors.

👁️ OpenEye is an ophthalmic drop applicator that makes self-administration easier, safer and more efficient. The container consists of a plastic bottle, a protective cap and a drop applicator made of pharmaceutical-grade silicone, whose composition and shape ensure safe use, easy cleanability and precise and efficient application, thus minimising waste during drug administration.

OpenEye provides a solution for the growing number of elderly patients who self-administer liquid ophthalmic medications and require a simplified and safe method of administration. The user-centred approach at the heart of OpenEye enables accurate and safe administration by the target group while maximising product utilisation.
